★ *Obeying God by Disobeying Man*
*Exodus 1:15-21*
The story of the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, is a powerful example of obeying God, even when it means defying human authority. In Exodus 1:15-21, they were commanded by the king of Egypt to kill all male Israelite newborns. However, their deep fear and reverence for God gave them the courage to disobey this cruel order. They knew that God is the supreme King and that His laws surpass human commands. Through their wisdom and faithfulness, they not only saved lives but were also blessed by God with households of their own.
We find similar examples throughout the Bible. Joseph resisted the temptation of Potiphar's wife, choosing to honor God over sin. Daniel defied the king's decree and continued to pray knowing that obedience to Him was worth any earthly punishment. Similarly, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the golden image, even when faced with a fiery furnace. In each case, God honored their courage and faithfulness.
In our lives, we may face situations where following God requires us to stand against societal pressures or authorities. If we prioritize God’s will even at great personal cost, He will honor our obedience and deal well with us, just as He did with those faithful servants in the Bible.
*Takeaway:*
* Fear God above all else; His authority is supreme.
* When we obey and honor God, He will bless and strengthen us.
*📖 Verse for the day 📖*
*Acts 5:29*
_But Peter and the apostles answered, 'We must obey God rather than men.'_
