It's a new year! But have you become a new creation in Christ?

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The New Year marks a time for people to strive for self-improvement, making resolutions to become better individuals. It's a day when we endeavor to leave behind past troubles and mistakes, aiming to rectify them.

However, genuine change is crucial for a truly joyous New Year. Decisions and resolutions, while beneficial, may merely serve to refine our old selves if we aren't connected to Christ. It's like polishing the Old man and trying to make it look good while it's not.

Only through Jesus Christ, can one truly be transformed into a new creation. He is the only one who can forgive your sins. He alone can give you a new heart.

If you haven't experienced this transformation yet, now is the time.

Bible says 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23). The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and as humans, we can't save ourselves from this eternal punishment. Good deeds or pilgrimages won't lead us to heaven.

But there's a good news! God has provided a solution: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Yes, by confessing your sins, believing that He died on the cross for you and by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you can be saved.

As Christians, may we strive to live as new creations, seeking God's help to overcome our bad old ways. As Galatians 5:24 says, those who belong to Christ Jesus, have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

Let our lives reflect the character of Christ, visible to all who encounter us. May God guide us in this endeavor.

Wishing you a happy and blessed year ahead!

Take away:

¶ Embrace Christ for genuine transformation and a new beginning.

¶ Live as a new creation, and be transformed by the renewing of your mind, reflecting Christ's character in your life.
